July 15th, 2009

South Africa. Harmony mine has reported another accident.

The fatality occurred at the group’s Free State operations, Masimong, despite renewed emphasis on safety and the rolling out of safety programmes.

A mineworker was killed over the weekend in a fall of ground accident.

Says Harmony Gold’s Chief Executive Officer, Graham Briggs: “It remains unfortunate and tragic that the fatality still occurred.”
