THIS COURSE
The role of SHEQ management within the organizational environment is changing. This creates the need for SHEQ officers to be able to communicate and function at higher levels within the organisation. It is therefore important that SHEQ professionals acquire the necessary knowledge and skills on courses that provide further career path development opportunities.
In recognition of the quality of Advantage ACT’s SHEQMAN course, the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) has, after careful assessment of the course content and abilities of Advantage ACT to deliver university standard qualifications, elected to confer the following course credits on students with a
SHEQMAN course certificate and who meet the entry requirements for the appropriate USQ program:
- The USQ Graduate Diploma in Safety Health and Environment - a credit for MGT 8017 (Safety Science in Practice).
- The USQ Masters in Management (SHE) degree - credits for MGT 8017 (Safety Science in Practice) AND an unspecified elective.
- The USQ MBA (Occupational Health & Safety) - a credit for MGT 8017 (Safety Science in Practice).Target Group

PRE-REQUISITES
A SHEQ Supervisors course is a pre-requisite for this course as well as at least 3 years of either implementing or managing a Health and Safety/SHE or SHEQ management system.
COURSE OUTCOMES
At the end of this course with the use of the delegate course manual you will be able to:
- Explain the changing role of the SHEQ professional.
- Understand and discuss the Risk management process.
- Identify the importance and discuss critical sections of the OHSAct/Mine Health and Safety Act, COIDAct and various Environmental Laws.
- Explain the ISO9001: 2008, ISO14001: 2004 and OHSAS18001: 2007 concepts and its relevance to your organisation.
- Evaluate Corporate Occupational Health in your management system.
- Discuss Environmental Management and apply basic principles to your working environment.
- Build a plant/building/site according to SHEQ principles.
- Discuss Behaviour-based SHEQ and the positive influence it makes to a successful SHEQ management system.
LEARNING MATERIAL & LANGUAGE
Delegates will use the SHEQMAN course manual and applicable legal sources. The course will be presented in English.
