Smaller companies use third party Sheq audits
November 16th, 2009Third party verification of Sheq management has been extended to smaller chemicals companies who are members of the Chemicals and Allied Industries Association (CAIA). Ten customised Responsible Care audit protocols were completed during 2009.
Guideline documents for chemicals and chemical products are being developed, said CAIA chairman Frank Baker at an AGM at The Campus in Bryanston in October.
CAIA remains involved with the environmental impact assessment Regulations, the Waste Act, the Air Quality Act, hazardous chemical substances regulations and the Major Hazardous Installation Regulations. The association’s staff had accompanied government officials to several chemicals plants.
New CAIA board members include Molatoli Qobose and Joaquin Schoch. Contact caiainfo@iafrica.com
