Summary
This course enables participants to learn about the best practices for implementing and managing an Environmental Management System (EMS) as specified in ISO 14001:2015. This training also helps to understand how ISO 14001 relates with other management systems. The participant will learn the different components of an EMS, including the EMS policy, procedures, measuring performance, management’s commitment, internal audit, management review and continual improvement.

Day 1:

Introduction to Environmental Management System (EMS) concepts as required by ISO 14001
Introduction to the ISO 14000 family of standards
Introduction to management systems and the process approach
Fundamental principles in Environmental Management
General requirements: presentation of the clauses 4 to 4.6 of the ISO 14001 standard
Implementation phases of the ISO 14001 framework
Continual improvement of Environmental Management System
Conducting an ISO 14001 certification audit
Day 2:

Implementing an Environmental Management System and Certification Exam
Identification and Evaluation of Environmental Aspects/Impacts and their Significance
Principles and design of processes and controls
Documentation of processes and controls of an EMS
Implementation of a document management framework
Monitoring and reviewing the system
Certified ISO 14001 Foundation exam

Educational approach
This training is based on both theory and practice:Sessions of lectures illustrated with examples based on real cases
Review exercises to assist the exam preparation
Practice test similar to the certification exam
To benefit from the practical exercises, the number of training participants is limited


Examination and Certification
The “Certified ISO 14001 Foundation” exam fully meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Programme (ECP). The exam covers the following competence domains:

Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of Environmental Management?
Domain 2: Environmental Management System (EMS)


Duration: 1 hour


A certificate of Certified ISO 14001 Foundation will be issued to participants who successfully pass the exam and comply with all the other requirements related to this credential

General Information
Certification fees are included in the exam price
A student manual containing over 200 pages of information and practical examples will be distributed to participants
A participation certificate of 14 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits certificate will be issued to participants
In case of failure of the exam, participants are allowed to retake the exam for free under certain conditions
