Harmony Gold Team Leader Dies

March 26th, 2009

South Africa. Harmony Gold has reported that a winder stator accident at their Virginia operation in the Free State caused the death of a team leader on the 24th of March.

The Department of Minerals and Energy and Harmony Gold management began an incident investigation into the cause of the accident on the same day (24th of March).

The affected winder reclamation is the only part of the operation that has been shut down and this will not handicap the production as the shaft is not operational.
