OHSAS 18001 Implementation Course

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course is aimed at all delegates who have had no or little previous experience in Health & Safety (OHS) Management System Implementation.

This course will provide you with the necessary information towards assisting your organisation to:

  • Understand the advantages of going the OHSAS/ISO-route
  • Implement, maintain and improve an OHS management system
  • Prepare for external certification
  • Improve self-knowledge of OHSAS/ISO management
  • Integrate OHSAS 18001with internal systems & procedures
  • Integrate OHSAS with external systems & procedures

Recent international trends point to integration by organisations of their various management systems. This exercise saves time and money, promotes understanding and streamlines business processes and thus efficiency. OHSAS18001 is one of the Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality pillars needed towards integration.

The aim of the Advantage ACT OHSAS 18001 course is to equip you with knowledge and skill to perform OHSAS/ISO-based internal programme/system functions effectively and with confidence.

COURSE OUTCOMES

At the end of this course, with the use of the relevant OHSAS guideline documentation and facilitator material, you will be able to:

  • Define a Health & Safety management programme/system
  • Identify the purpose of a Health & Safety audit
  • Discuss a Health & Safety Policy Statement
  • Identify the importance of Health & Safety Planning
  • Explain the Implementation of a OHS management system
  • Discuss Measurement and Evaluation of an OHS management system
  • Explain Health & Safety Management Review & Improvement
  • Differentiate between different OHSAS 18001 & 18002 terminology
  • Differentiate between hazards & risks, accidents & incidents
  • Discuss Health & Safety legal issues
  • Understand OSHAS 18001 & 18002 holistically
  • Discuss the Health & Safety Generic checklist

COURSE MODULES

  • Introduction – Terminology & Definitions – OHSAS
  • OHSAS 18001 – Occu pational Health and Safety management systems – Specification
  • OHSAS 18002 – Occupational Health and Safety management systems – Guidelines for the implementation of OHSAS 18001

PLEASE NOTE

No previous system implementation knowledge and experience is necessary for this course. It would be an advantage if you have an awareness of 18001 and Health and Safety principles and concepts.
