New offshore oil and gas rig policies

A 2011 oil and gas market research report reveals effects of the BP Deepwater Horizon Gulf of Mexico oil drill rig spill on HSE management and legislation.
The disaster had led to a worldwide rethink of offshore oil and gas health, safety and environment practice and enforcement, as revealed in the Offshore Oil and Gas Policy Handbook 2011.

More African oil and gas exporation

USA drill rigs decreasing
The BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster had checked increasing rig drilling. Baker Hughes reported in January 2010 that there were 40 rigs operating in USA waters, increasing until April 2010 to 50 rigs.
In May 2010, USA oceanic rigs numbered only 46, as one result of the Gulf of Mexico Disaster on 20 April 2010, and continued to decrease during a brief moratorium imposed by the USA following the disaster.
